The first book in the sexy new Sin City SEALs series by Sara Jane Stone!

He can resist everything...except her.

For the first time in her life, art therapist Lucia Lewis is ready to live. And the masquerade ball in Las Vegas is just the place to find a ridiculously hot guy to complete her wicked to-do list. The only rule? Her elegant Venetian mask-which conceals the scars that have always held her back from the life she deserves-stays on.

Navy SEAL Cade Daniels heads to Vegas on a mission to keep his best friend's little sister out of trouble. Except the woman he's sent to find is all heat and flame...and perfectly capable of handling herself. And him. But the moment Lucia's mask slips, the need to heal her, body and soul, is complete and absolute temptation.

But revealing himself could cost him the one thing he isn't willing to risk...his heart.

Excerpt:

“I bet they’re debating who should come over first. Or maybe they’re planning to ambush the sexy sailor on the shore.”

He glanced over the bikini trio and then behind them, as if seeking another target. “I don’t have ‘SEAL’ tattooed on my forehead.”

“It’s your muscles. They’re like a homing device. I bet this happens all the time.”

“Yeah, I walk into war zone and the bad guys are drawn to me and my biceps,” he said, offering a taste of dry wit that combined so perfectly with his deep voice.

“Joke all you want, but they’re heading this way.”

The trio walked out of the ocean as if auditioning for a swimsuit commercial.

I bet they bypassed the biscuits on the breakfast buffet.

He spared them a glance before returning his attention to her. The laser-like focus in his green eyes formed a lethal combination with his devilish smile. As soon as he opened his mouth, she would melt into a puddle of simmering, burning need.

“I have a plan to distract and redirect the enemy,” he said.

She raised an eyebrow. “If the Navy sends you out to defend our freedoms against girls in bikinis, I’m beginning to see why guys are willing to suffer through BUD/S training.”

“Guys join because they want to be the best,” he said. “So, are you in?”

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the trio moving closer. “I’m in.”

“Take off your dress and lie down on your stomach,” he ordered.

She hesitated. The suit showed so much of her. Maybe not as much as the ambushing Barbies, but she had more to hide.

“Don’t second-guess yourself, gorgeous.” The timbre of his voice dropped so low, she felt the rumble from head to toe.

In one swift motion, she pulled off the cover-up, revealing her plain black suit, and rolled over.

She laid her hat and her dress by the chair and turned her damaged cheek to the towel.

“Are they distracted yet?” she murmured.

“Not yet. We’re just getting started.”

He stood and slipped out of her view. A second later, she felt his leg brush the outside of her thigh, and his knee pressed into the chair. He swung his other leg over until his body hovered over the tops of her thighs. He leaned forward and rested his hands on either side of her torso, palms pressing into the towel, close enough to brush the sides of her breasts.

“Did you bring sunscreen?” he asked.

“I put it on before we left.” Her low back arched into him, and his hard length pressed against her. He flexed his hips, and the pressure offered a taste of the hard, deep thrusts from last night. Only this time, they were still dressed on a public beach.

I’ve never hated bathing suits this much. All that fabric...

“We’ll have to pretend,” he murmured, sitting up and stealing away the delicious pressure.

She moaned in protest and lifted her head, straining to look back at her hard-bodied torturer. “Is this part of the redirect?”

“No. This is the part where I show every person on this damn beach that the only pleasure I care about is yours.”

Interview:

Today, we welcome Sara Jane Stone Musings and Ramblings. Let's all give a big Geeky welcome!

Thank you for having me! I’m so excited to chat about my writing process, Navy SEALs, and much, much more☺

Let's start with some writer specific questions before moving into the fun stuff. That way everyone can really get to know the person behind the writer. We will finish things off with a round of Think Fast. Ready for the interrogation to begin?

I’m armed with coffee and dark chocolate. Let’s begin!

Writing Specific

When is your favorite time/place to write? Do you write structured or patchworked?
Once or twice a month, I take a writing retreat and go to a quiet place without internet access. I spend a day, sometime more, lost in my current story. I love knowing that I can write and write for hours on end without having to worry about picking up the kids from preschool or what I’ll make them for dinner.

Structured or patchworked? Honestly, it is a little bit of both. While I write the story from the beginning to the end, I keep a legal pad or two next to my computer where I write out future scenes or bits of dialogue.

How do you deal with Writer's Block?
I keep writing. Sometimes, I’ll reread one of my favorite books to remind myself why I love writing romance novels☺

What one thing do you wish someone had told you before you started writing?
I wish someone had told me that finding the right agent and editor (or editors in my case as I write for multiple publishers) can make the experience almost magical. Revising a story based on smart, insightful feedback is my favorite part of the writing process. And I feel so fortunate to work with such a talented team of people!

How did you choose the genres you write in?
I write what I love to read. And I try to deliver a story that I would want to add to my to-be-read pile.

Is there any particular author or book that has influenced you or your writing?
Suzanne Brockmann. Back when I was working in publishing, I picked up Hot Target, from her Troubleshooters series. I was attending a publicity event with Mrs. Brockmann the following day and wanted to be able to honestly say I’d read some of her work. I stayed up until close to dawn finishing the book. And looking back, I know that was the moment when I fell in love with military romance.

A few years later, I started reading Lauren Blakely, Samanthe Beck, and Tawny Weber—just to name a few of my other key influences. I knew I wanted to combine my passion for red-hot erotic romance with my love for military romance. And one day, I wanted to write a series about a team of Navy SEALs.

Fun Stuff

What was the last movie/concert/show that you saw?
My husband took me a Florida Georgia Line concert recently. I’m a huge country music fan. And if I listen to music while writing (very rare as I love quiet), it is generally country.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I would like to stop time. If I could freeze the world around me for a few hours and keep working imagine how much I could accomplish! This would also be useful late at night when I wanted to stay up reading. I could hit the “pause” button, finish my book, and still get a full night’s sleep.

What was the name of the last book you read?
Impossible Odds: The Kidnapping of Jessica Buchanan and Her Dramatic Rescue by SEAL Team Six. My parents heard Jessica Buchanan speak at a charity event and got a signed copy for me. I love reading accounts of military heroes in action. And while I don’t write suspense, I think missions like Jessica Buchanan’s rescue shed light on my fictional heroes.

Tell us 2 positive and 2 negative character traits you possess.
Positive: I’m very punctual.
Negative: I drive others (my husband) crazy with my need to be on time.

Positive: I don’t mind when the apartment is a little messy. I would rather read or play with my kids than tackle the dishes. And I’m okay with letting the laundry pile up while I finish my current work-in-progress.
Negative: My desk looks like a tornado of paper hit it. It’s a mess. And I really don’t mind as long as I have space to write☺

You are going to be stranded on a deserted island and bring 3 luxury items. What would they be?

  1. My Kindle.
  2. A iPhone or iPod loaded with children’s audiobooks to entertain my kids when I need a break to read.
  3. Paperback copies of my favorite books. (Just in case the island doesn’t have power☺)

Think Fast

Mountains or Sea? Mountains.
Meat or Veggies? Veggies. I’ve been vegan for the past nineteen years.
Italian or Chinese? Italian. My grandfather was from Italy and I love visiting family and friends still living there.
Summer or Winter? Summer. I grew up in South Florida. And I’m still coming to terms with the New York winters.
Coffee or Tea? Coffee. I can’t write without coffee.

Thanks for coming by and spending some time with us. Any final words of wisdom to pass along?

Thank you for having me! If you love super smexy reads, I hope you’ll check out To Tempt a SEAL. And if you’re interested in chatting, have a question or comment for me, please leave a comment here or find my on Facebook!
